These frames were chosen from random scenes as examples of the power of color correction. My primary tool for grading is After Effects,

and note that I use a variety of enhancement to every scene; shadows, vingettes, shafts of light, post gels, and sometimes,

even actual frame by frame touch ups. These are typical shots as opposed to effects shots. Sometimes the effects are subtle,

sometimes dramactic, but I strive to make every shot, ( even every frame) in the film better.

Besides the fact that it radically raises the perception of quality and the acceptance of the story, it's fun (at least for me), and with as much as I have done

and expect, I am still constantly surprised at the results. I encourage all filmmakers to learn and investigate the desktop tools availlable in telling their own stories.

As I work through the edit and post production, I'll try to pull shots that are saved by some pretty radical treatment, though I would place the two men's CU's

in the car in that catagory. I'll also try post my basic way of approaching Color Correction and Grading within After Effects in hopes that it helps someone else.
