Color Grading Examples with before and after |
|
Throughout these pages and the website itselt are lots of frame grabs pulled from the final movie. Obviously, they are radically reduced, and then compressed to med jpeg quality and format, but we put a lot of effort into the look of the movie. It's not that we think the 'look' or cinematography is any more important than any other element that makes up a movie, it's just so much easier to show on a website!

The Foot Chase |
|
We thought these might be of special interest as they illustrate several key elements in shooting with a camera like the Sony EX1. This scene is shot with available light, goes from high intensity sunlight to some pretty dim interiors with a fantastic color range, and obviously is full of higher speed action. If you want to see the scene in motion, check out the YouTube version on the KerberosMovie Channel.

| Kerberos Title Sequence |
|
The Kerberos movie titles were created in After Effects at 2K resolution. Like the complete movie, these were rendered as uncompressed Tiff files, reimported and brought back into sync. They are made from a hundred layer composite of the final action scene of the movie, stock footage of fire elements, addtional fire elements we filmed, and dozens of stills.

| Basic advice and color grading tutorial |
|
Doing the post processing on BLOOD TIES, several music videos, my short film AM SESSION, then starting on KERBEROS, many people have asked for advice and help in tackling the color correction and enhancement of their own projects. I hope this page can at least point some people in the right direction. I realize that there are other talented people out there, some with more skill and ...

Stills pulled for critical analysis from the original EX1 footage |

Frame grabs, representing a few different lighting situations, and in uncompressed tiff files for anyone wanting to analyze the images themselves. Some are directly from the EX1 mpeg4 footage, while a few have already been graded.

| Stills and frame grabs - feel free to copy, paste, and use for whatever | We're hoping the stills show some of the beauty of our movie - just because it's action and a bit of mayhem doesn't mean we don't want it to look good! The severely compressed versions on the internet and YouTube don't really give justice to the final result. With the fast editing style and a really dense story, we're sure some of the cinematography gets overlooked, but it all adds to the impression of quality, and of course a movie is only made of light and sound! For those who are making their own projects, we hope that the images help somehow as you create your own stories and pursue your creative dreams! If you haven't checked them yet, watch some of the clips and trailers on TheMovieKerberos channel on YouTube... |
